Meet author Dr. Cathy Phillips with special guest and cancer survivor Regional Councillor- Gael Miles.
The goal of Cathy’s new book Calm Your Mind & Warm Your Heart is to help find comfort, hope, and healing on good days and bad days; at times when things are going well and times when the outlook feels bleak. The book draws on the real life experiences of cancer patients attending the healing Journey Program at Princess Margaret hospital and Wellspring.
Designed to help people cope more effectively with illness, the program teaches mind-body skills such as relaxation training, guided imagery and meditation to promote a calm mind and a warm heart.
Dr. Cathy Phillips is a psychologist with a special interest in cancer care in both clinical and research settings. For over fifteen years, she has been associated with The Healing Journey Program (www.HealingJourney.ca) which helps people cope more effectively with cancer and to live more fully in personally meaningfully ways. She also leads relaxation and support groups at Wellspring Centres in the Toronto area (www.wellspring.ca)
