Candle Night 2011 at Merlion Park

Hi Readers! Are you free this coming Saturday 5th November 2011? There is some happening at Merlion Park, One Fullerton Marina Bay! Candle Night is back in Singapore...

It’s a special environmental event to help in finding one’s inner sense of time and this event eventually was started in Japan since 2003. Thus, this going to be an interesting celebration of Candle Night using the recycled materials as the principle theme of the event. Now its time to Turn off the Light, and take it slow!

Note that, this event is free of charge and open for public participation. The event will cater for a free public participation to indulge in lantern making at candle kiosk and for all to enjoy an evening of beautiful flickering candle light.

What is Candle Night?
Candle Night, and environmental event that helps in finding one's inner sense of time, is the brainchild of a non-profit environmental group in Japan. Candle Night events have been held in Japan since 2003. Last year, the Lighting Detectives Singapore organized the first Candle Night event in Singapore, in which over 500 participants created floating lanterns at the Marina Bay.

This year, the Lighting Detectives together with public participants will light the Merlion Park using candles within hand-made lanterns. Participating cafes and restaurants along the waterfront will also be lit up with specially designed candles and lanterns in their outdoor seating areas.

Using recycled materials as the principal theme, lanterns crafted out of plastic bottles, cups and even crab shells will be displayed at Marina Bay.

Art students from Singapore and Japan will also participate in the event and create large-scale candle installations. The event will cater for free public participation to indulge in lantern making at the Candle Kiosk, and for all to enjoy an evening of beautiful flickering candle light.

Hpility Hop Onto the Audi Ultra Yacht

Woot! I had a causal life during my last Saturday together with my friend, Jeremy and this was our very first time hopping onto the Audi Ultra Race Yacht and experience the windy ride moment at Marina Bay waterfront promenade.

With the coolest technology installed on the Audi Ultra Yacht, it is the world most advanced and light-weight Ocean racing yachts! Hence, the Audi ultra is 95 feet in length and 14 stories high, making it highly visible when sailing into any harbour in the world, and delivering instant brand visibility.


The three owners of the boat – Ludde Ingvall, the skipper and builder of the Audi ultra, Thomas Zilliacus and Ron Creevey, co-Founders of Singapore based YuuZoo Corporation, one of the world’s leading mobile media and mobile payment companies - believe that Singapore has the potential to sail in the America’s Cup in the future.

Throughout our exploration on the Audi race boat, we found one very interesting and curious stuff on the boat... Guess what is this? It was a Toilet!! Can you believe this!!! Hahaha

Despite of seeing the scenery of Marina Bay toward the Marina Bay Sands, we actually got a chance to explore the Audi Race Yacht and with this, we knew how they manage their survival on the yacht and continue with their next yacht race. It really needs a lot of hard work and passion in order for them to maintain their yacht race.


Last but not least, glad to meet new friends on this yacht ride! Although the day itself, the weather was mad humid but yet we did enjoyed the overall yacht ride at the Marina Bay. Hope to see you guys soon! *Smiles*

Casual Lifestyle at Verve Pizza Bar

Eating and Chilling out is a way to enjoy life especially during the humid weather of Singapore. Hence, I had a casual lifestyle with a group of new friends I met during last Saturday and it was a great opportunity that we visited the Verve Pizza Bar Restaurants located at marina bay waterfront promenade.

Sunny Saturday, we chilled out at the Pizza Bar, having some chit-chat session with friends as well as enjoying the breeze blowing onto our faces. Likewise, it came along with good foods which recommended by the Verve Pizza Bar Restaurants manager.

By looking at the Verve Pizza Bar food menu itself, I knew that it going to be a great dish of the day! Their specially was their handmade pizza, coming in with different unique flavour and it pizza crust was soft enough to consume and it taste delicious too.

Hence, selection of authentic Italian thin-crust pizza (Enzo Peking duck, Altobello Spicy Beef, Mancini BBQ Chicken, Capricciosa ham & artichokes - from $21-$26 per 12" pizza)

Potato Wedges with Chilli Crab dip



Well, other than having the fresh handmade traditional Italian pizza, we also tried their mouthful
Verve's Calamari with Garlic Creme and Potato Wedges with Chilli Crab dip. Somehow thanks for the great chances itself, on the same day, I also tried out their two popular drinks such as; Apple Martini and Ice Latte with ice cream pop on it and lastly, their Italian Gelato ice cream.



Hence, selection of gelato ($6 per scoop) - Forrest Berries Sorbet, Decadent Chocolate, Lime Sorbet, Chocolate Baileys, Hazelnut, Pistacchio & Green Almond, Vanilla Cognac, Cookies & Cream.


It was a great day with great foods! Look at the cute little girl below here! Yup, Its Jerome’s little daughter! Hahaha… So cute with the bunny hairband and I guess she had enjoyed her dining time at the Pizza Bar too. Haha


Alright, if you manage to drop by Marina Bay City gallery, feel free to visit the Verve Pizza bar just right beside the Marina Bay City Gallery! Well, is recommended that, you can bring either one big group of friends or just family to have a delightful meal at this cooling & relaxing dining place. *Smiles*

About - WALTER: ADVENTURES OF A CURIOUS COLOSSAL BUNNY
Singapore's favourite bunny WALTER is hopping to Marina Bay on his next adventure around the city! There will be lots of exciting activities during the month including a photo art exhibition describing his curious adventures, Rabbits 101 by the House Rabbit Society, exciting bunny story-telling sessions and a mobile library, free HP photo prints with WALTER, children’s art sessions at Marina Bay Link Mall and more! WALTER is local artist Dawn Ng's pet project involving guerrilla installations of a curious colossal bunny who pops up across Singapore's standard landscape of flats and heartland enclaves. By using Walter to create and photograph scenarios packed with surprise and wonder, Dawn draws attention to commonly overlooked and over familiar spaces across our landscape, while dodging cops and people with no sense of humour. WALTER is a celebration of our ordinary by helping us look at this city as children again.
