World Hug Day 2012 in Singapore

It’s 14 January 2012! Happy World Hug Day to everyone! Today Morning, I was at outside the Marina Bay Sand event plaza to Witness the world hug day event ceremony. It was a warmly and lovely moment whereby everyone started to hug one another regardless any race, sex and religion.

Candle Night 2011 at Merlion Park

Hi Readers! Are you free this coming Saturday 5th November 2011? There is some happening at Merlion Park, One Fullerton Marina Bay! Candle Night is back in Singapore...

It’s a special environmental event to help in finding one’s inner sense of time and this event eventually was started in Japan since 2003. Thus, this going to be an interesting celebration of Candle Night using the recycled materials as the principle theme of the event. Now its time to Turn off the Light, and take it slow!

Venue: Merlion Park Singapore
Date 5 November 2011
Time: 6:00PM - 8.00 PM

Note that, this event is free of charge and open for public participation. The event will cater for a free public participation to indulge in lantern making at candle kiosk and for all to enjoy an evening of beautiful flickering candle light.

What is Candle Night?
Candle Night, and environmental event that helps in finding one's inner sense of time, is the brainchild of a non-profit environmental group in Japan. Candle Night events have been held in Japan since 2003. Last year, the Lighting Detectives Singapore organized the first Candle Night event in Singapore, in which over 500 participants created floating lanterns at the Marina Bay.

This year, the Lighting Detectives together with public participants will light the Merlion Park using candles within hand-made lanterns. Participating cafes and restaurants along the waterfront will also be lit up with specially designed candles and lanterns in their outdoor seating areas.

Using recycled materials as the principal theme, lanterns crafted out of plastic bottles, cups and even crab shells will be displayed at Marina Bay.

Art students from Singapore and Japan will also participate in the event and create large-scale candle installations. The event will cater for free public participation to indulge in lantern making at the Candle Kiosk, and for all to enjoy an evening of beautiful flickering candle light.
